Secretary of State's Antique Vehicle Show Coming Sept. 8

SPRINGFIELD –– Secretary of State Jesse White today reminded auto enthusiasts that the 2001 Secretary of State's Antique Vehicle Show is only three weeks away.

The all-day show, which includes a swap meet and flea market, will be held Saturday, Sept. 8, at the State Fairgrounds in Springfield.

"The Antique Vehicle Show provides a fun-filled day for the entire family," said White. "Once again, the show will be held in conjunction with the WNNS/Valco Cruise for Charity so visitors can enjoy both events."

The top Pontiac at this year's show will receive the special Marque award, which represents a different automobile manufacturer each year.

The Illinois State Champion award will be given to the vehicle judged best at the show by the Antique Vehicle Show Committee. First-, second- and third-place winners will receive awards in at least 45 classes of vehicles, including antique motor scooters or motor-powered bikes and antique motorcycles.

Special Event license plates featuring the Pontiac logo are available for $20 per set, and can be purchased and displayed up to Sept. 8 on cars and B-trucks. For additional information, write to the Secretary of State's office, 450 Howlett Building, Springfield, IL 62756, or call 217/557-7629. A brochure is available online.
