Jesse White Enhances Customer Service for CDL Applicants with
“Illinois Fast Pass” Program

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White announced today that effective June 2, 2008 CDL applicants may schedule their pre-trip, skills and road exams online at www.cyberdriveillinois.com. The new “Illinois Fast Pass” program takes residents just a few minutes to schedule appointments online for CDL testing purposes at the CDL facility of their choice.

“Illinois Fast Pass improves customer service for our state’s CDL applicants through the use of technology,” said White. “It can be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week and makes scheduling CDL appointments quick and convenient.”

CDL applicants may still schedule appointments by calling 630-293-1191 in the Chicago metro area or 217-785-3013 for Central and Downstate Illinois from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

The Illinois Fast Pass program is one more in a series of improvements White has made to the state’s CDL program since he took office in 1999. Other key improvements include, but are not limited to:

  • Requiring out-of-state CDL holders to retake and pass both the road and written exams before they may be issued an Illinois CDL;
  • Installing automated testing machines to prohibit cheating on or memorization of the written test;
  • Ensuring CDL applicants have the necessary reading comprehension skills to do their job safely by prohibiting interpreters or any form of assistance in reading CDL applications or CDL tests;
  • Providing the CDL tests in English only;
  • Enacting a three-fail rule ending the policy that allowed unqualified drivers infinite chances to pass the CDL test.
