The School District Library Grant Program, the first of its kind in the nation, is designed to help provide more library books and materials for the students of public schools in Illinois. The state legislature has authorized up to a $.75 per pupil expenditure for qualifying schools. Grant Application: Working Draft
Applicants are encouraged to complete this working draft (PDF) of the grant application as a preliminary step in the grant process. Upon completion of the working draft, applicants must access the Online "Survey Monkey" Component" (below) in order to enter answers and submit the electronic grant application component.
Grant Application: Required Components for Submission and Funding Consideration
- Online Survey Monkey Component
This grant component must be completed online and electronically submitted to the Illinois State Library. Applicants must complete the entire online component in one sitting since it cannot be saved and then retrieved for completion. Applicants are encouraged to schedule a minimum of 45 - 60 minutes of uninterrupted time to complete this online grant component.
- Signature Page Component
This "paper" grant component must be printed, signed, and submitted via mail to the Illinois State Library.
The School District Library Grant Program is:
- Available to tax supported public school districts that meet the grant eligibility requirements and are members of a regional library system;
- Announced each fall, with applications due in November/December, and grants awarded after the first of the calendar year;
- Based upon a formula that is capped at a maximum of $.75 per capita;
- Used to support appropriate programs and services in accordance with the Illinois Compiled Statutes; and,
- Funded using state monies.
