Why Deliver Library Materials?
Posted on September 10, 2015
In our society, libraries of all types fulfill a need for accurate and timely information in a way no other institutions do. The request for library material from a student in Chicago, a genealogist in Quincy or an enjoyment reader in Metropolis is equally important. Sharing the vast information resources of Illinois’s libraries comprehensively, and at no direct cost to the requesting resident, to meet each of those needs is the guiding principle of the Illinois State Library and the entire ILLINET community. The efficient and effective delivery of physical library resources requested by an Illinois resident is a critical element in successful resource sharing. In order to create equitable delivery for all residents of the state, the ultimate goal of the Illinois State Library is to enable every library to receive requested library resources five (5) days per week.
