- In Illinois, 81 percent of motorcycle fatalities were persons not wearing helmets. Thirty-eight percent (38%) of the crash fatalities involved riders with a BAC of .08 or higher.

- 20 states plus the District of Columbia require helmet use for all motorcyclists.
- 3 states do not require helmet use for drivers or passengers. These states are Illinois, Iowa and New Hampshire.
