Important Illinois UCC Forms Notice — Effective July 1, 2013, Public Act 97-1034 amends the forms required for filing under the Uniform Commercial Code (810 ILCS 5). In order to prevent rejection of your documents, you must use said forms beginning on July 01, 2013. Please notify your software provider and IT programmers accordingly. Do not submit the amended UCC forms prior to the effective date of July 01, 2013 or they will be rejected. The revised UCC National forms are available at beginning May 01, 2013, and will be available on this website as of July 1, 2013.

Administration of the Uniform commercial Code promotes local and multi-jurisdictional commerce by striving for uniformity in policies and procedures among the various states. Amendments to Article 9 of the UCC, which took effect in July 2001, made sweeping changes to bring greater certainty to financing transactions.

The Secretary of State’s office is responsible for filing financing statements and maintaining a record-keeping system to allow quick and accurate searches.
